Fiber Optic Cable Locator
Wabash has an immediate opening for a Fiber Optic Cable Locator. This full-time position involves correctly locating underground cable supplying broadband internet, telephone and TV service to our customers.
Responsibilities may include:
– Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground cable within accuracy limit
– Perform light excavation with a shovel to expose cable when necessary
– Read and interpret utility maps
– Receive and respond to locating notices within time requirements – during business hours and emergency locates after hours
– Operate company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
– Understand and follow company policy
– Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
– Available to work Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, overtime and emergency work as needed
Qualifications:
– Valid driver’s license and good driving record
– Customer service experience is a plus
– Experience working with hand tools preferred
– Knowledge of basic construction
No prior locating experience is necessary. Training will be provided.
Physical Requirements:
– walk distances on uneven terrain, stand, sit, crawl, stoop, balance
– work in all weather conditions
