Outside Plant Technician
Wabash is looking for an Outside Plant Technician to join our team. This full-time position (or summer-only position) involves constructing and installing our fiber optic network supplying broadband internet, phone and TV service.
Responsibilities may include:
– Operate specialized construction equipment
– Perform excavation with a shovel to expose cable when necessary
– Install buried and aerial fiber optic runs
– Read and interpret utility maps
– Operate company vehicle and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
– Understand and follow company policy
– Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
– Available to work Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, on-call 1 week every 2 months, overtime and emergency work as needed
Qualifications:
– Valid driver’s license and good driving record
– Customer service experience is a plus
– Experience working with hand tools preferred
– Knowledge of basic construction
No prior experience is necessary. Training will be provided.
Physical Requirements:
– walk, stand, sit, crawl, stoop, crouch, climb, balance
– lift 50 lbs.
